Dr. Brian H. Gander grew up in Danville, KY and matriculated to the University of South Carolina where he obtained his Bachelors of Science with a focus in Chemistry. While there he graduated with honors from the South Carolina Honors College and also received the Outstanding Senior Award, a recognition given to the top 1% of graduating seniors. Following completion of his undergraduate studies Dr. Gander attended the University Of Louisville School Of Medicine where he found his interest in plastic surgery. Dr. Gander joined the team performing research in composite tissue allotransplantation, of which he remained an active member of during his stay in Louisville. During his medical training Dr. Gander took a sabbatical year volunteering in medical missions in Guatemala and Argentina. Dr. Gander was accepted into the integrated residency program and the University Of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2010 where he trains today.

Since arriving in Pittsburgh Dr. Gander has written about various topics such as carpal injuries in professional athletes, in addition to presenting at numerous local, regional, and national plastic surgery meetings.
