David D. Zabel, MD PA FACS, attended Case Western University, Cleveland Ohio where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. Dr Zabel then attended University of Cincinnati where he obtained his medical degree.
Dr. Zabel completed 7 years General Surgery Residency at Christiana Hospital and 2 years of training at University of California, San Francisco in the Wound Healing Research Lab. He continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh where he completed his Plastic Surgery Residency. He is a retired Commander in the United States Navy Reserves.
Dr. Zabel has been in practice in Delaware since 2001 and is Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the staff of Christiana Care Health Systems, St Francis Hospital, Jennersville Regional Hospital, and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Zabel has published over 25 peer review journal articles and 5 book chapters in the fields of wound repair and plastic surgery.
Dr. Zabel specializes in reconstructive surgery and wound care encompassing hernia repair, surgical dermatology, hand surgery, post-cancer reconstruction, post-trauma reconstruction, scar and keloid, treatment, cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery. Dr. Zabel is currently the Director of the Christiana Hernia Center and is the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Christiana Care Health Systems.
