Jake Thayer, MD

Biography

Jake Thayer was born and raised in Howards Grove, Wisconsin. He attended college at Marquette University and then stayed in Milwaukee for medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed an integrated plastic surgery residency at Southern Illinois University Institute for Plastic Surgery. He enjoys running, weight lifting and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Why Pitt?

I was drawn to UPMC for its legacy in hand surgery training. The robust clinical volume and mix of traumatic and elective hand surgery were both strengths for me. Additionally, the ability to learn from countless faculty from both plastic and orthopedic surgery backgrounds reinforced that this would be an excellent place to train.
