Andreea Gavrilescu

Andreea Gavrilescu is a Visiting Research Scholar with the Kokai Lab at the University of Pittsburgh Adipose Stem Cell Center for the 2023-2024 academic year. Born and raised in Seattle, she pursued her undergraduate degree at Washington University in St. Louis. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychological & Brain Sciences and a minor in Healthcare Management. Following graduation, she spent two years at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University as a Clinical Research Coordinator under Dr. Daniela Matei. She managed various aspects of large-scale clinical drug trials aimed in treating late-stage gynecologic cancers. Returning to Seattle, she matriculated at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, WA, where she is currently an MD candidate. She developed a strong interest in Plastic Surgery after being paired with a Plastic Surgery resident in her first year of medical school. Her primary interests include breast reconstruction and body contouring, though all subsets of Plastic Surgery are currently exciting. In her free time, she enjoys cheering on the Seahawks, managing Fantasy Football teams, running, traveling, and exploring the different neighborhoods of Pittsburgh.
