Dr. Raghuram was born in Kansas City, Kansas and spent her childhood growing up in Bangalore, India, Atlanta, Georgia, and Amarillo, Texas. She completed her undergraduate and medical degree training in Houston, Texas as one of 12 selected Rice Baylor Medical Scholars. At Rice University, she received her Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Biochemistry, Minor in Business, and was a Trustee Distinguished Merit Scholar. Prior to joining Baylor College of Medicine, she completed a degree in General Management through the Stanford Graduate School of Business. While a medical student, Anjali received the Owen H. Wangensteen Scientific Forum Excellence in Research Award from the American College of Surgeons for her work investigating discrepancies in cardiac surgery institutional ratings. She then went on to complete a research fellowship in the Keck School of Medicine Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery under the mentorship of Dr. Alex Wong. During this time, she pursued her basic, translational, and clinical science interests in irradiated wound healing, prevention of post-surgical lymphedema, and microsurgical free tissue transfer. Through her medical training, Anjali has been recognized for her commitment to compassionate patient care, graduating with High Honors and election to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Raghuram has co-authored >50 publications, textbook chapters, scientific abstracts, and presentations. She has also co-authored 3 grants through the NIH and the Center for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Tissue & Organ Regeneration.
