Chanel Reid is a clinical and basic science Research Fellow in the Department of Plastic Surgery. She graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine in August 2024. Chanel’s passion for surgery and mentorship led her to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Her current research interests include breast reconstruction, upper extremity lymphedema, improving outcomes in breast surgery, and improving underrepresentation in Plastic Surgery through mentorship. Prior to starting medical school, Chanel earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in biology from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. Following her undergraduate studies, Chanel decided to amplify her basic science knowledge and lab skills by completing her Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Rutgers School of Graduate Studies.
As a New Jersey native, Chanel takes delight in scoping out cafés for the best bagels, sweet treats and coffee. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking savory recipes, baking sweet treats, reading, hiking, playing volleyball, and completing puzzles.
