Dr. Groff was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated Cum Laude from Amherst College with a B.A. in Psychology and a Certificate of Specialization in Culture, Health and Sciences. After graduation, she joined the Pitt Parent and Children Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh, contributing to research in developmental psychology. She then matriculated at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA where she earned her medical degree. During her medical education, Dr. Groff was president of a number of organizations including Penn State’s Operation Smile medical student chapter and the Disability Advocacy and Awareness Group. She also served as a clinic coordinator for two student-run free health clinics, SCOPE and LionCare. Pursuing her interest in global health and social inequities, Dr. Groff assisted in providing care in Israel, the Dominican Republic of the Congo, and the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. She most recently traveled to Koforidua, Ghana as a Global Health Scholar where she engaged in establishing a system to supply cervical spine collars and creating sustainable solutions for post-mastectomy cosmesis. Outside of academia, she enjoys hiking, reading, and exploring new local coffee shops and restaurants.
Dr. Groff has published numerous peer-reviewed papers in prestigious journals on the topics of plastic surgery, craniofacial surgery and global health and has presented several oral and poster presentations at local, regional, and national meetings.
