Dr. Katana is a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Plastic Surgery, working with Dr. Kacey Marra. Dzana received her doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from Istanbul University Cerrahpasa in 2020. Dr. Katana joined the Plastic Surgery Laboratory in 2021. Dr. Katana specializes in biomaterial science, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. She has worked on polymer nerve guide fabrication and characterization, protocol optimization, and microencapsulation for drug delivery. Additionally, she has studied the effects of neuromuscular electrical stimulation on attenuating skeletal muscle atrophy in rodents.
