Elizabeth A. Moroni, MD, MHA

Dr. Elizabeth Moroni earned a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in Neurobiology, with Minors in Business and Sociology. She earned her MD degree, as well as her Masters of Healthcare Administration (MHA), from Georgetown University. During her time at Georgetown, Dr. Moroni was recognized multiple times for her commitment to patient safety and quality improvement, especially for medically underserved patients. She graduated with distinction in Healthcare Leadership and as a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and Upsilon Phi Delta Healthcare Administration Honor Society.

During her residency, Dr. Moroni dedicated a year to research, contributing to microsurgical and graduate medical education literature. She is heavily involved in mentorship and national plastic surgery societies, and notably is serving as Vice Chair of the ASPS Residents’ Council this academic year.

After her time at Pitt, Dr. Moroni will complete a fellowship in Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery at the world-renowned Buncke Clinic, after which she will pursue a career in Academic Reconstructive Microsurgery.

Representative Publications

Dr. Moroni has published scientific manuscripts and abstracts on various topics in plastic surgery, including microsurgery, breast reconstruction, abdominal wall reconstruction, limb salvage, clinical outcomes/quality improvement, and health disparities. She has presented her work at local, regional, national, and international meetings, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
