Isaac B. James, MD, MS

Isaac B. James, MD, MS is a plastic surgeon with expertise in facial aesthetic surgery, cosmetic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and regenerative medicine. Dr. James is an Assistant Professor in the University of Pittsburgh Department of Plastic Surgery. He serves as the Director of the UPMC North Hills Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Center and as the Director of Aesthetic Education for the Department of Plastic Surgery.

Originally hailing from West Virginia, Dr. James completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at West Virginia University, graduating summa cum laude.  Subsequently, he earned a Master of Science in exercise physiology. In 2010, Dr. James moved to Pittsburgh to pursue his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Following medical school, he dedicated two years to full time laboratory research and completed a fellowship in adipose tissue-based regenerative medicine at the University of Pittsburgh under the mentorship of Dr. J. Peter Rubin.  Dr. James then completed Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Pittsburgh, which was the #1 ranked plastic surgery training program in the U.S. during his tenure. Following residency, he went on to complete the esteemed Aesthetic Plastic Surgery fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic under the mentorship of Dr. James Zins.  

Clinically, Dr. James has particular interest and expertise in facelift surgery, facial rejuvenation, and aesthetic plastic surgery of the breast and body. He is also adept at a wide range of procedures in reconstructive plastic surgery.  His research interests include aesthetic plastic surgery, facial aesthetic surgery, non-surgical rejuvenation, regenerative medicine, fat grafting, and surgical education.
