Dr. Beiriger grew up in Monroeville, a suburb of Pittsburgh about 20 minutes east of the city, with three brothers. He attended Case Western Reserve University in 2014 and graduated with a double major in electrical engineering & biomedical engineering, earning the honor of Valedictorian of the School of Engineering. He then joined the Pitt family in 2018 as a medical student and first got involved with plastic surgery through the UPMC 3D Print Lab. In addition, Dr. Beiriger spent a dedicated year during medical school with Dr. Jesse Goldstein at Children’s Hospital focused on implementing machine learning in the evaluation and management of patients with craniosynostosis. He was awarded the prestigious National Endowment for Plastic Surgery Grant through the Plastic Surgery Foundation for $50,000 to further his research. His work resulted in two patents for inventions to be used in craniofacial surgery and numerous publications and awards.He also earned his master’s degree in clinical research during that year. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Beiriger loves to snowboard and to play tennis, golf, and soccer.
Dr. Beiriger has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications on the topics of plastic surgery, craniofacial surgery, and neurosurgery, and given more than 60 presentations at regional, national, and international professional meetings.
