Michael J. Marallo grew up in Vermont, joining the United States Marine Corps after graduating from high school. He completed the Joint Service Engineering program and deployed to the middle east in combat roles after completing additional infantry training. His experiences led him to pursue a career in medicine, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from the Honors Program at the University of New Hampshire, working for the Department of Defense during college and as a Marine Reservist upon graduating. He was employed as a polymer and pharmaceutical chemist prior to completing medical school at the University of Vermont, where he pursued research designing a pilot trial studying the accuracy of digital PET scanning in the identification of lymphatic metastases.
Dr. Marallo has published research and presented at national and international meetings in topics such as public health and opioids, outcomes in trauma surgery, plastic surgery, surgical oncology, medical and manufacturing machine design, and synthetic chemistry.
