Dr. Naresh Mahajan joined the University of Pittsburgh in May 2024, working in Dr. Asim Ejaz's lab, Department of Plastic Surgery. Before this, he was a research scholar at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He holds a Ph.D. in Human Genetics from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, India, where he investigated DNA damage in obese men with cardiovascular disease.
Prior to his work at Wake Forest, Dr. Mahajan served as a Research Associate at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore, India, gaining experience in molecular biology, cytogenetics, and various cell culture techniques. He is skilled in bacterial cell culturing, plasmid isolation, immunofluorescence, SDS-PAGE, Western blot analysis, cell proliferation assays, imaging, flow cytometry, and 3D bioprinting of skin.
Dr. Mahajan has authored several research publications on DNA damage and oxidative stress. He has presented his work at numerous international and national conferences. His research at Wake Forest focused on regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, making significant contributions to the field. Dr. Mahajan looks forward to contributing his knowledge and expertise to further the research initiatives at the University of Pittsburgh.
