Rebecca Hohsfield, BS

Rebecca Hohsfield is a rising fourth-year medical student and clinical research fellow within the Department of Plastic Surgery. During the 2024-2025 academic year, she is conducting research in reconstructive, regenerative, burn, and microsurgery under the mentorship of Dr. Francesco Egro.

Rebecca was born and raised in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She attended the University of New Mexico where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After completion of her undergraduate education, she earned her Emergency Medical Technician Certification and worked as a medical tech in the Emergency Department for two years. She then matriculated to the University of New Mexico School of Medicine where she developed her passion for the field of plastic surgery. She now serves as an executive member for the Medical Student Interest Group of the Mountain West Society of Plastic Surgeons, which provides a space for medical students across the Mountain West region to connect and collaborate.

Outside of her medical career, she enjoys serving her community through volunteer work; she has served as a mentor for refugee youth as well as undergraduate students interested in pursuing a career in medicine, she established a Zumba fitness program free of charge to the community in rural Artesia, New Mexico, and is currently serving as a Big Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. She also enjoys reading, attending music festivals, and maintains a lifelong passion for various forms of dance.
