Shawn Loder, MD

Shawn J. Loder earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. While a medical student he was a two time recipient of the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Research Fellowship and a member of the Burn/Wound/Regeneration Medicine Laboratory. As part of the lab he pursued a number of projects dedicated to studying the role of skin, fat, and composite tissue transplantation in wound healing. He was also involved in research into the contribution of stem cell populations to the formation of heterotopic ossification. Dr. Loder has been training in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Plastic Surgery of UPMC since July 2017.
