Xiao Zhu, MD

Xiao Zhu graduated from Duke University with a B.A. Degree in Chemistry. He then pursued a year of basic science research investigating receptor biochemistry under the mentorship of Dr. Robert J. Lefkowitz before matriculating to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2013. During his medical education, he was member of the Physician-Scientist Training Program and was awarded the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Medical Research Fellowship to study contractile signaling pathways in renal vascular smooth muscle cells. Dr. Zhu began his surgical training as an integrated resident within the Department of Plastic Surgery at UPMC in 2018.

Dr. Zhu has published nearly 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts in both basic and clinical projects. He has also contributed to numerous abstracts and presentations at local, regional, and national meetings.
